Château Mignan is a family wine estate in Siran, in the Hérault, at the heart of the Minervois. It produces organically farmed wines in AOP Languedoc, AOP Minervois and AOP Minervois La Livinière.
Three generations on the high terraces of Siran
The estate was founded in 1956 by Christian Mignard's grandfather, on the high clay-limestone terraces of Siran. These pebble and clay soils, facing the foothills of the Montagne Noire, give wines of structure built to age — the signature of the La Livinière cru.
Christian Mignard took over in 2002. He built a new cellar, restructured the vineyard plot by plot, and began the conversion to organic farming. The estate has been certified organic since 2012.
Today it covers around thirty hectares, spread across the estate's three appellations.
Terra, Labor, Homo, Sanguis
Four Latin words appear on the estate's labels: the land, the work, the man, the blood. It is the grower's guiding line, and you can read it in the wines: structured, sun-filled reds, taut whites, a thirst-quenching rosé — all made without make-up.
Christian Mignard is also vice-president of the Minervois La Livinière appellation, the only red cru in the Languedoc.
