The AOP Minervois La Livinière wines of Château Mignan
La Livinière is the only official red cru in the Languedoc. Recognised as the region's first village appellation by decree of 16 February 1999, it became AOP La Livinière by decree of 2 September 2022. The cru spans six communes, on high clay-limestone terraces backing onto the Montagne Noire. Its rulebook is stricter than that of Minervois: lower yields, controlled grape varieties and a compulsory ageing period.
This is the heart of the estate. On this terroir, Château Mignan makes its single-plot cuvées under certified organic farming — Les Trois Clochers, named after the three village bell towers you can see from the cellar, and L'Œil du Temps, which takes selection and ageing further. Both blend Syrah, Grenache and old-vine Carignan.

Cellaring and serving
These reds keep happily for eight to ten years in good cellar conditions. Young vintages benefit from half an hour in a decanter. Serve at around 16-17 °C, with roast or grilled meat, game, or strong cheeses.
Frequently asked questions
Is La Livinière the same as Minervois?
Geographically yes, but it is a distinct cru, with its own AOP and a more demanding rulebook. A wine is labelled either Minervois or Minervois La Livinière — never both.
Why "the only red cru in the Languedoc"?
La Livinière was the first village appellation recognised for Languedoc reds, in 1999, and it remains the only one reserved exclusively for red wine.
How long will they keep?
Les Trois Clochers drinks well on release and holds for 6 to 10 years. L'Œil du Temps rewards 3 to 5 years' patience and can go up to 15.
