The AOP Languedoc wines of Château Mignan
AOP Languedoc is the regional appellation of the wider Languedoc vineyard. Created by decree of 30 April 2007, it succeeded Coteaux du Languedoc (an AOC since 1985, VDQS since 1960) and covers the Aude, the Gard, the Hérault and as far as Roussillon. It is the gateway to the appellation pyramid of the South: broad, generous, Mediterranean, and open to all three colours.
At Château Mignan in Siran, this appellation carries our most convivial cuvée — À Table !, an organic red led by Grenache, with Syrah and Carignan depending on the vintage, aged in tank to keep the fruit and the suppleness. A wine for long tables, to be opened without ceremony.
Like the rest of the estate, it is certified organic (Ecocert since 2012).
Cellaring and serving
À Table ! is made to be drunk on its fruit, within three to five years. Serve at around 16-17 °C, with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled beef or a dish of summer vegetables.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between AOP Languedoc and AOP Minervois?
AOP Languedoc is regional and covers a very large territory; Minervois is a sub-regional appellation, on a restricted area and with a stricter rulebook. See our Minervois collection.
Does an AOP Languedoc mean lesser quality?
No. The appellation hierarchy is a signal of averages, not an individual guarantee: a rigorous grower will make a more precise AOP Languedoc than a poorly handled Minervois.
