The harvest is not a show. It is three to four weeks of full trailers, presses running day and night, and hand sorting in the cool of the morning. And yet some visitors choose exactly this period to come to Château Mignan — because there is no other moment in the year when the estate is so alive. And because beyond the harvest, the estate runs several occasional events that turn a simple visit into a celebration.
This guide gathers the experiences offered at Château Mignan beyond the classic tasting: harvest, lunches around the fire, special Gueuleton events, and private hire.

Experiencing the harvest at the estate
The harvest at Château Mignan generally runs from mid-September to mid-October, depending on the vintage. The usual order: whites and rosés first (Pech Quisou, À Table Blanc, Sola), then the Minervois reds (À Table Rouge, Aurus), and finally the AOP La Livinière plots (Les Trois Clochers, L'Œil du Temps), which often finish in late September or early October.
What you can see on a harvest visit:
- The picking teams in the vines at daybreak (the best grapes are picked in the cool, between 6 and 10 am).
- Hand sorting on the sorting table in the cellar: damaged or under-ripe bunches are set aside.
- Destemming and filling the vats for maceration.
- The press at work for the whites and rosés.
- The first musts in fermentation, sometimes still bubbling — a sight and a smell worth the trip.
During this period, the classic tasting can be replaced by a more immersive harvest visit, including a tasting of the latest bottled vintages and, if circumstances allow, a sample drawn from the vat.
Please note: the harvest is a period of intense activity. Visit slots are limited and booking must be made well in advance through the contact page.
The Déjeuner Gueuleton at the estate
Several times a year, Château Mignan hosts the Déjeuner Gueuleton au Domaine — an event run in partnership with Gueuleton, around one long shared table, a wood fire, grilled meats and the estate's cuvées poured alongside.
The general format:
- A grower's aperitif with a white or rosé from the estate.
- A long lunch around one large shared table.
- A menu built around a main cut of meat (duck, lamb, rib of beef, game depending on the season).
- A glass-by-glass pairing with the range, from the white through to the La Livinière cru.
- A cellar visit and tasting included.
Price, capacity and dates: by prior booking (sessions are limited in number). See the event listing in the shop when it is open, or get in touch for the next dates.
Barrel tastings out of season
From November to March, outside the harvest and away from the summer crowds, the estate opens up a rarer experience: the barrel tasting. In practice, we draw the ageing wines with a pipette — often the vintage that will be released the following year — straight from the barrel.
What it offers:
- Tasting a wine before final blending and before sulphiting. You see the raw material of the vintage.
- Understanding the influence of wood and ageing — the same wine in a one-wine barrel and a three-wine barrel does not taste the same.
- Discovering separate plots before blending. Genuinely instructive for serious enthusiasts.
A bespoke format, arranged by appointment. Ideal for those who want to understand the craft beyond the finished glass.
Private hire of the estate
For particular projects (a milestone birthday, a company seminar, a weekend with friends, a wedding), bespoke formats are possible depending on the season, the number of people and the kind of experience you are looking for.

Groups, works councils, corporate events
Several formats are available for professional groups:
- Group discovery tasting — an introduction to the estate, a walk through the cellar, a guided tasting of the range.
- Food and wine pairing workshop — guided tasting plus food platters and a pairing exercise. Ideal for gastronomic team building.
- Immersive half-day — cellar visit, a walk in the vines, tasting and lunch.
For company works councils, personalised gift cases with a dedicated label are possible for the end of year. Terms and capacity: on request.

Frequently asked questions
Can you take part in the harvest as a volunteer?
It depends on the year and on our needs. The work is physical and requires reasonable fitness. For any request, get in touch well in advance.
Can children come to the Déjeuner Gueuleton?
The long adult lunch format is not always ideal for very young children. It depends on the session — tell us your situation when booking.
How far ahead should you book for a wedding?
Saturdays in high season are often booked a long way ahead. For other dates there is more flexibility. First contact via the contact page.
Can you order a personalised gift case?
For special orders (gift boxes, personalised labels, corporate gifts), see the shop or get in touch.
Are events held in bad weather?
Depending on the format, fallback options exist. Some walks in the vines may be cancelled or postponed if the weather is genuinely hostile. Details are confirmed case by case when booking.
